There are a few other serious errors that can indicate data corruption (such as error 5 and error 22), but Error Level 2 is by far the most common.  If the files are not repaired, the problem will likely get worse - to the point where your practice files will become unusable. If you are receiving this error, it is extremely important that you DO NOT use the utility feature to rebuild the data files.  Using the rebuild feature under these circumstances will not only erase a large portion of your data files, it will also make it impossible for them to be repaired.  If you have inadvertently used this feature in hopes of repairing the problem,  you will need to provide us with a backup of your data from a date prior to when the rebuild was performed.

The exact cause of data corruption is usually difficult to determine, but it is typically network related.  Examples of network issues include:

• Turning off your computer (intentionally or inadvertently) without first logging out of the Lytec program
• Using a mixture of network protocols or inconsistent protocol configuration
• Incorrect DHCP configuration
• Poor network performance from using an outdated computer or one infected with a virus
• Using your computer(s) on the same circuit breaker as something else that might be causing electrical static such as a space heater, copy machine, coffee pot, power tools etc...

Cost: The cost for data repair will vary with the size of your files and the extent of the corruption, the average fee for Pervasive data corruption is approximately $300 to $500. Newer versions of Lytec use an MSSQL database and the repair cost will be based on time spent and could run higher. There is no charge for analyzing your data to determine its status.
