On July 15, 2008 Congress passed H.R. 6331. This bill provides
financial incentives in 2009-2013 for physicians to use a qualified
e-prescribing system. The Medicare bonus is 2% in 2009 & 10, 1% for
2011 & 12, and .5% for 2013. The Physicians who fail to e-prescribe by
2012 will begin to have Medicare payments reduced by up to 2%.
